Holonomics is an emerging science based on the assertion that everything exists in a context of interconnection and meaning - it is the science of INTEGRATION. Holonomics is derived from the Greek words holos (complete or whole) and nomos (meaningful order) and refers to the investigation and application of the connective networks that apply to integrated systems. All living organisms exchange matter and energy within their environment and Holonomics works at understanding the interaction and its impact on the continuation and quality of life.
Holonomics arose as a new paradigm In the late 80's with the Holonomic Brain Theory. This theory demonstrated how cognitive functions are guided by a matrix of neurological "wave interference patterns" and are assembled into a single understandable unit like a holograph. The concept of holographic representation lead to the use of the term "Holonomic" to describe similar processes but on a much wider scale.
The significance of Holonomics is that it is a science of integration, meaning that life is intrinsically meaningful and is based on an underlying natural order. Ancient cultures perceived the meaningful order of life and explained it through myth and legends - Holonomics provided a new and empirically based language that studies and applies that ageless understanding in ways that can radically transform many facets of our lives.
